Posted November 25, 2024
The first of a three year phase-in of a $29,633 raise for Simcoe County councillors and the Warden is expected to be approved tomorrow (Nov. 26) with the first $9,888 increase to kick-in January 2025. That would take the current annual remunerations from $12,054 to $21,942, then $31,830 in 2026, and $41,717 in 2027.
The Warden's salary increases inhe same increments going from the current $86,251 in 2025, $106,027, and $115,914 in 2027. The base salary for Deputy Warden will remain $55,041 during the same period.
In addition to the annual raises, the 32 members of council will also receive a percentage equal to the average of the County of Simcoe non-union salary band adjustments.
The decision to increase council remunerations followed on their rejection of cutting the number of councillors from 32 to 16.
