Local woman charged using bogus U.S. currency at Walmart

A New Tecumseth woman is facing fraud related charges after trying to use counterfeit American $50 bills to purchase gift cards at Walmart Alliston Monday morning.

Nottawasaga OPP were called to the Dunham Drive store at 9:26 am with the suspect still present.

"The store owner and employee determined that the money uttered by the suspect was multiple counterfeit American $50 bills, and they contacted police."

The 28-year-old was arrested and charged with Possessing Counterfeit Money, Uttering Counterfeit Money, Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000, and Fraud Under $5,000.

She was released on a Promise to Appear and will attend a future court date at the Bradford Court of Justice.
