Ward 5 vacancy race grows to four

Posted November 7, 2017

Monday ushered in three more applicants vying to fill the Ward 5 vacancy, raising the number of candidates to four.

Peter Anderson, Stephanie MacLellan, and Alan Masters, put their names forward yesterday.

Mr. Anderson was previously an agricultural representative for a 2012 Economic Development Advisory Committee downtown business retention study. He lives in Ward 4.

Ms. MacLellan, who resides in Ward 5, is a member of the Save the Beeton Woods group that opposed Tecumseth Estates permit to remove approximately 35 acres of woodlands at 6386 and 6416 9th Line in Beeton. She provides real-time council meeting commentary on the group's Facebook page.

Mr. Masters, who resides in Ward 6 Beeton, ran in Ward 5 in 2010, finishing second to Donna Jebb. He is currently Chair of New Tecumseth's Committee of Adjustment.

They join Ken Pratt, a former Alliston councillor, who was first to register for the vacancy last week.

Cut-off date for candidate applications is Tues., Nov. 14, at 2 pm.
