Tottenham assault suspect evades K9, ERT, but known to police

Posted August 2, 2019

At this post (1:39 pm), Nottawasaga OPP were still trying to locate a male wanted in connection to an alleged assault at a residence in Tottenham last night around 9 pm, then fled the scene.

OPP K9 and members of its emergency response team (ERT) were called in to help with the search that took place in the neighbourhoods around Tottenham Mall including Lionel Stone Avenue, Brown Street and Adeline Avenue.

"We know who the suspect is," Nottawasaga OPP A/S/Sergeant Tom Shantz, told Free Press Online via email this afternoon. "He fled the residence and there was a K9 track. Suspect not located."

Sgt Shantz also noted the number of police in Tottenham included officers dealing with disturbing the peace reports, so "with the added calls, K9, ERT and doing containment we would have a lot of police traffic."
