Canada Day ends with numerous charges for Toronto couple

A couple from Toronto are facing several charges following a scuffle
with bylaw officers that involved a baseball bat after they refused to
extinguish an "illegal fire"on Canada Day at a park on Innisfil Beach
South Simcoe Police reported this afternoon the incident occurred at
approximately 6:30 pm yesterday.
"The suspect left the scene in a vehicle travelling at a high rate of
speed with a female driver and two children," according to police.
"Following a brief pursuit on Innisfil Beach Road, the vehicle
eventually stopped. The female driver and her male passenger were
arrested. During the course of the arrest, the man threatened two
South Simcoe Police Service officers with bodily harm."
A 41-year-old Toronto man is facing numerous charges including four
counts of Threaten Bodily Harm, two counts of Assaulting a Peace
Officer with a Weapon and several counts of Failing to Comply With
Probation. A 42-year-old Toronto woman is charged with Flight from
Police and Dangerous Operation.
The woman was released with a future court date and the man was held
for a bail hearing. The bylaw enforcement officers were not injured
during the incident.
