Traffic stop ends in arrests for stolen vehicle

Posted September 5, 2018

Two people were arrested this morning following a traffic stop initiated for speeding in a vehicle reported stolen from Peel Region.

Nottawasaga OPP said this afternoon, a moving radar patrol on Cty Rd 90, west of the 5th Line in Angus at approximately 11:00 am "observed an eastbound vehicle travelling in excess of the posted speed limit."

A run of the plate "determined that the vehicle had been stolen earlier from the Region of Peel.  The female driver and male passenger were arrested and taken into custody. The stolen vehicle has been removed to safe storage pending return to the owner."

A 41-year-old female from Mississauga and a 37-year-old male of no fixed address are in police custody for Possession of Stolen Property pending a bail hearing.
