September blitz in school zones nets over a dozen fines
Nottawasaga OPP issued 14 speeding tickets in school zones over the
month of September including on driver clocked at 102 km/h in a posted
60 km/h community safety zone.
OPP said this morning they will continue to patrol school areas for
speeders and vehicles illegally parked in those zones.
"With every kilometre over the speed limit, a vehicle requires greater
stopping distance," said OPP Traffic Sergeant Eric Steele. "This
enhances the potential for both injuries and deaths; so please slow
down and drive with due care and attention."
Drivers who fail to stop for a school bus are subject to being charged
resulting in fines that range from $400 to $2,000 and six demerit
