September blitz in school zones nets over a dozen fines

Posted October 1, 2018

Nottawasaga OPP issued 14 speeding tickets in school zones over the month of September including on driver clocked at 102 km/h in a posted 60 km/h community safety zone.

OPP said this morning they will continue to patrol school areas for speeders and vehicles  illegally parked in those zones.

"With every kilometre over the speed limit, a vehicle requires greater stopping distance," said OPP Traffic Sergeant Eric Steele. "This enhances the potential for both injuries and deaths; so please slow down and drive with due care and attention."

Drivers who fail to stop for a school bus are subject to being charged resulting in fines that range from $400 to $2,000 and six demerit points.
