New Tecumseth property taxes directed to Simcoe County, will climb by
$1.3 million over last year for a total of $16,118,430, up from
$14,813,070 in 2016, according to the County Rates and Tax Ratios for
That's the second highest increase behind only Bradford West
Gwillimbury whose ratepayers will be tapped for $1.6 million more than
in 2016. Innisfil remains the largest contributor of tax dollars at $18.2
million, of the 16 municipalities.
The increases reflect the growth in market value assessment in each of
the communities, which translates into paying a larger portion of the
total levy for County purposes, which this year is $152.4 million.
Innisfil, New Tecumseth and
Bradford WG, provide 33.2 per cent of the total.
Penetanguishene, whose mayor Gerry Marshall, is SImcoe County Warden, contributes the smallest share at $2.9 million or 1.94 per cent.
