Paramedics meet 2017 response targets

Simcoe County paramedics exceeded the 2017 response time targets in all six emergency categories according to the department's year-end update to County councillors.

Paramedics are expected to arrive within six minutes for the most serious cardiac arrest call, 50 per cent of the time, but actual was 55 per cent; and within eight minutes for the Canadian Triage Acuity Scale (CTAS 1 - resuscitation), 50 per cent of the time, but actual was 68.3 per cent, a two per cent increase over 2016.

CTAS 2 (emergent), target time 10 minutes 70 per cent of the time, actual was 74.5 per cent, down from 75.9 per cent in 2016.

CTAS 3 (urgent), 15 minutes 85 per cent of the time, actual was 89.6, down from 90.8 in 2016.

CTAS 4 (less urgent), 20 minutes 90 per cent of the time, actual was 94.2, down from 95.9 per cent in 2016.

CTAS 5 (non-urgent), 25 minutes 90 per cent of the time, actual was 96.3, down from 98.5 per cent in 2016.
