'Borderless' 'street sweep' nabs nearly two dozen on warrants
Posted July 2,
A joint collaberation between Nottawasaga and Dufferin OPP
dubbed operation "Street Sweep" conducted between June 24-28 resulted
in 23 arrests related to outstanding warrants.
The Community Street Crime Units from both detachments took
part in the "borderless" "effort to identify, locate and arrest wanted
parties throughout their respective service areas."
OPP Media officer Chad Wilson told Free Press Online the
arrests "were not divided up by detachment due to the borderless
focus." Additionally, several of these parties received new charges
ranging from suspend drive to drug offences. Two new warrants have been sought for parties who have committed bail
violations, according to OPP.
"The members from both detachments worked with other OPP assets such as
Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) to locate parties wanted
throughout Ontario and Quebec."
