Enbridge donation boosts firefighter training in New Tecumseth

Posted August 7, 2018

New Tecumseth Fire Rescue is one of 20 provincial fire departments that will share a $100,000 donation from Enbridge Gas Distribution to purchase firefighting training materials to enhance to life-saving techniques.

Enbridge has partnered with the Fire Marshal's Public Fire Safety Council to fund a program that supplements existing training for Ontario volunteer and composite fire departments in the communities where Enbridge operates. Its Project Assist was launched in 2012 and has provided 120 grants.

New Tecumseth Fire Rescue consists of 140 part-time firefighters, a full-time Director of Emergency Services/Fire Chief, Deputy Fire Chief of Operations and Training, Deputy Fire Chief of Prevention and Education and Fire Training Officer.

"The Project Assist donation provided by Enbridge is very much appreciated and timely for our recruit and firefighter training towards NFPA Professional Qualification Standards," said Dan Heydon, New Tecumseth - Director of Emergency Services/Fire Chief. "We continue to rely on the resources available through the Fire Marshal's Public Fire Safety Council Distribution Centre to support our fire service training program needs."
