Medical assists continued to dominate NTFR calls

New Tecumseth Fire Rescue responded to 999 incidents in 2018, an increase of six per cent over 2017, according to the department's annual update to council.

The bulk of service calls were medical assists with 297, an increase of one over the previous year, followed by 188 false alarms, up from 175 in 2017. And there were 79 fire calls (structure/vehicle/brush) an increase from 50. In 2018 members of the Fire Prevention Division investigated 23 structure fires.



"The division is currently developing specifications and the design of new fire apparatus. The new units that will be put into service and will coincide with the new development of Station 4 and a replacement Pumper/Rescue for Station 2," according to the report. "The expansion of Station 3 hall is ongoing and will add a truck bay to the station along with other required renovations."
