Nobleton man wanted for gas station robbery, arrested on unrelated charges

Posted July 3, 2018

A Nobelton man wanted for an armed robbery at the Esso station on Hwy 9 near Schomberg Saturday night (June 30), was arrested Sunday in Barrie on unrelated charges.

Nottawasaga OPP reported this morning they were dispatched to the gas station at approximately 8:30 pm that evening.

"A lone male entered the gas station armed with a sawed off shotgun. The clerk was able to escape to an adjoining room, while the male helped himself to lottery tickets, cigarettes and a small amount of money," according to OPP. "Total amount of cash taken is undetermined. The male fled in a vehicle, and investigators were able to determine the identity of the male and the vehicle from video surveillance."

The getaway car was traced to a residence in Nobleton, where a warrant was executed but the suspect was no there.

"However, the male was arrested by Barrie Police Service on July 1, 2018, on unrelated weapons charges. The weapon has been recovered."

Ronald "Harry" Haverlock, 37, of Nobleton is currently being held in Barrie police custody awaiting a bail hearing on their charges. The armed robbery charges are pending.
