New Tecumseth rates five stars in Winterlights celebrations

The Winterlights Celebrations held its annual awards ceremony Saturday in PEI where it was announced that New Tecumseth received the full five star rating for its lighting displays in Alliston, Beeton and Tottenham. But so did all the other entries.

New Tecumseth had been competing along with four other communities in Canada in the 7,500 to 30,000 population category. The winner was the City of Fort St. John, BC for its Winter Wonderful City.

Winterlights Celebrations is the winter version of Communities in Bloom. The City of Barrie won the National Capital Commission Winter Festival Award.

New Tecumseth council has allocated $20,000 to enter next winter's competition.
