Water, sewage bills to climb over $2 per cm

Posted November 13, 2017

The proposed 2018 rates for water and wastewater in New Tecumseth are proposed to increase from $1.96 per cubic metre (CM) to $2.01 for each component, a 2.55 per cent increase.

New rates would take effect April 1, 2018.

Those on urban services in Alliston, Beeton, and Tottenham are charged on an actual use basis, with wastewater calculated as the same amount as water usage.

The increases at the low end (15 cm per month) would equate to $60.30, an increase of $1.50, while high users (30 CM) would pay an average of $120.60 per month, a $3 hike.

The increases are estimated to generate an additional $110,600 in revenues for water, and wastewater.
