Collision ends with impaired charge

Posted May 17, 2017

A two vehicle crash last night on Tottenham Road north of Hwy 9 has resulted in charges against a New Tecumseth man.

Nottawasaga OPP reported this afternoon emergency crews were dispatched to the scene at approximately 11:26 pm.

"When officers arrived, they found a 4-door gold Acura in the northbound ditch and a blue Dodge Caravan on the northbound shoulder of the roadway. Through further investigation, it was determined that the Dodge was travelling northbound on Tottenham Road, when it was struck by the Acura that was travelling southbound and crossed over into the northbound lane," according to police. "The lone male driver of the Acura was investigated for Care and Control of a Motor Vehicle and subsequently arrested and transported to hospital for minor injuries. The other driver was not injured."

A 22-year-old was charged with Impaired Driving and Over 80 mg of alcohol in 100 mL of blood. His license was suspended for 90 days, and vehicle impounded for seven days.
