Township council to consider change to Wednesdays, New
Tecumseth reviewing it
Adjala Tosorontio is embarking on an update to its procedural bylaw
including a proposed change to when council holds its monthly meetings.
The Township currently holds its regular council meetings on the second
Monday of each month.
Mayor Floyd Pinto told Free Press Online the proposal would move it to
the second Wednesday with meeting start times at 5:30 p.m.
"We are looking at moving the meetings to Wednesdays as it gives staff
and council more time to review the agenda. Mondays were not very
convenient especially on long weekends," the mayor wrote via email. "We
are looking at reviewing our procedural bylaw with a qualified
parliamentarian to see that it meets all requirements of the Municipal
Act, as the previous bylaw was written by council and staff."
New Tecumseth council is also considering a change to Wednesdays. A
report on Monday night's first regular meeting of the year shows a
switch in nights would add six more meeting dates over the four year
term, from 83 status to quo to 89, Wednesdays.
The report to councillors suggests a move to Wednesdays would require
altering the previous term's various committee calendar dates.
Additionally, the report notes Rogers Cable would not be available to
broadcast six of the Wednesday meetings.
