Traffic stops ends in multiple drug charges

Nottawasaga OPP stopped a vehicle Saturday night on Victoria Street E and ended up charging its driver and passenger with numerous offenses Cannabis Act offenses.

OPP reported this afternoon the traffic stop occurred at approximately 11:05 pm and determined the female driver had her license suspended.

"Through further investigation, police determined that there was cannabis marijuana readily available to the driver and they conducted a search of the vehicle," according to the press release. "Police located and seized a quantity of cannabis marijuana, cocaine and other illegal drugs, along with Canadian currency and the vehicle was seized for further investigation."

A 34-year-old female from Scarborough was arrested and charged with:

Driving while under suspension;
Drive vehicle while Cannabis readily available;
Unlawful purchase of Cannabis;
Possession of over 30g Cannabis in a public place;
Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000;
Possession for the purpose of trafficking; and
Possession of Cocaine.

The 47-year-old male passenger from Pickering was charged with:

Possession for the purpose of trafficking;
Possession of Cocaine; and
Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Both were released from custody pending a future court date in Bradford.
