After graduate studies, he went on to study medicine at Queen's University and during residency, completed EMS subspecialty training at Sunnybrook. He has served as medical director at Sunnybrook for the Toronto Firefighter Prehospital Care Program since 2005, as medical director for EMS Special Operations programs since 2010, and as medical director for provincial CACCs since 2014. He is an attending emergency physician at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, and a transport physician at Ornge.
