Posted November 4, 2019

Two women face 26 charges related to shoplifting at the Tanger Outlets in Innisfil.

South Simcoe Police reported the incident occurred on Satuday and were called in around 9 pm "after a loss prevention officer reported the theft of a large quantity of clothes."

"The loss prevention officer had attempted to arrest two suspects who resisted and managed to escape in a vehicle," according to police. "Acting on information from the scene, police subsequently stopped the suspect vehicle on Highway 400 at Canal Road in Bradford. Two women in the vehicle were arrested without incident. A large quantity of clothes valued at several thousand dollars from numerous stores at Tanger Outlets was recovered in addition to clothing that belonged to stores not at the mall. A large quantity of decorative jewelry was also located from an unknown store. Police seized tools used to thwart security measures on merchandise."

A 54-year-old Mississauga woman and 38-year-old North York woman are charged with 10 counts of Theft; 10 counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime; two counts of Resist Arrest; two counts of Escape Lawful Custody; and two counts of Mischief to Property.

The accused were released with future court dates.
