OPP seeking driver of BMW who fled traffic stop

Posted May 13, 2019

OPP are seeking the occupants of a BMW which led them on pursuit across two jurisdictions Saturday afternoon.

At the time, officers from the Central Region Traffic Barrie Enforcement Team were alerted to traffic complaint westbound on County Road 90 towards Angus involving a silver 4-door BMW "driving dangerously and having mechanical issues."

"The officer located the Silver BMW bearing Ontario marker BZYA 017 westbound on Brentwood Drive in Angus," according to OPP. "The officer attempted to stop the motor vehicle in relation to the traffic complaint. The officer activated the vehicle emergency light system along with its sirens. The male driver failed to stop for the officer and proceeded westbound on Brentwood Drive at a high rate of speed towards Wasaga Beach. A short, suspect apprehension pursuit took place in an attempt to stop the vehicle and identify the male driver and female passenger. The pursuit was terminated after a short distance to preserve the safety of the public."

Huronia West OPP located the vehicle on Highway 26 and attempted to stop it, but the driver fled and pursuit was terminated.

"Although a licence plate was obtained, it was identified as being incorrect for this vehicle."

Nottawasaga OPP, Huronia West OPP and the Central Region Barrie Enforcement Team believe the occupants of the vehicle are in the security photo image above, taken at a local business.
