Stallions team with Thornton's Last Shot Bar to sell alcohol
on game nights
The Essa Stallions, who play in the two-year-old Canadian
Premier Jr Hockey League out of Angus Arena, will be able to offer
alcohol for sale on their home game nights if council ratifies the
recommendation to permit it.
A request from the league's defending champion is a
partnership with the Thornton based Last Shot Bar and Grill, who would
handle the bar duties in the arena's upstairs viewing area.
"The permit holder will ensure that a minimum of 30 per cent
of the alcoholic beverages offered consist of low alcohol options (i.e. low alcohol beer, light wine, and
low alcohol spirits)," according to the Township's policy.
"Non-alcoholic beverages will be available at a lower cost than any
alcoholic beverage. A sign shall be posted identifying the low
alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages available at the event. Food must
also be available as an alternative to or in addition to alcohol
Essa will also require the permit holder to take out a $2
million liability insurance policy.
