Baxter park gets nod for 2018

Posted October 2, 2017

Essa councillors approved an upset limit of $886,000 for construction of a 2.3 hectare park in Baxter ahead of the 250 residential unit subdivision by Brookfield Homes.

Brookfield has proposed building the multi-faceted park ahead of its housing construction, with the agreement calling for a 2018 timeline. The majority of funding will come from the prepayment of the parks and recreation component of development charges - which is $775,000 ($3,100 x 250 homes). Essa will contribute the difference.

The proposed park is expected to include a dog park, playground, splash pad, basketball court, washroom, parking, asphalt trails, gazebo, and picnic area.
