Barrie man charged after fleeing accident scene, passengers
A 24-year-old male from Barrie turned himself into Nottawasaga OPP
Sunday night and faces multiple charges following a single vehicle
crash Saturday night in Essa.
OPP reported this morning they were called to the intersection of Cty
Rd 56 and 20th SR at approximately 9:05 pm on Oct. 6.
"A witness to the crash advised that while he was travelling westbound
on 20th Sideroad, he was overtaken by another westbound vehicle at a
high rate of speed," according to the press release. "The passing
vehicle then lost control as it travelled through the intersection at
County Road 56. The vehicle came to rest in the ditch at the southwest
corner of the intersection. The driver then fled into the bush prior to
the arrival of emergency personnel, leaving behind two injured

The driver turned up at the OPP detachment at 6:30 on Oct. 7.
He has been charged with multiple criminal driving offences and will
make a court appearance on November 15.
