Alliston man facing numerous driving charges, stabs himself in
When South Simcoe Police responded to a reported accident early
Saturday morning, they found an abandoned vehicle with significant
front end damage, whose driver had fled the scene after striking a
house in Bradford.
"While the officer was tracking the footprints left in the snow, he
could hear a man screaming in pain," according to the police report.
"The officer located a male inside the rear entrance of the home with a
female attending to an injury on his leg. After further investigation,
the officer learned the injured male was the driver of the truck who
was found to be under the influence of drugs and alcohol."
South Simcoe Police allege the male stabbed himself in the leg, and
claimed "his truck was about to be stolen" so "he wouldn't be
charged." He was transported to hospital and treated and
released. His injury was non life threatening.
A 25-year-old Alliston male is charged with Impaired Driving, Fail To
Remain At The Scene, Dangerous Operation, Public Mischief and Failure
to Provide Blood Sample. He will appear in court on January 25,
2018 to answer to these charges.
