New fire truck tender over budget as lowest bid eliminated
September 8, 2017
Adjala Tosorontio will draw $45,000 from its fire contingency
reserve fund to cover the over budget purchase price of a new pumper
truck after eliminating the lowest bid for not meeting the tender
The 2017 budget allocated $483,360 to replace Pump 11 in
Station 1, Everett.
Four bids were received, the lowest of which was $477,763
(including tax) for a stock truck, whose only positive qualifiers-
other than being under budget - was it could be delivered in time, and
had the right engine (Cummins ISL 9 450 hp, minimum is 370).
The second lowest bid, including tax, is $542,968. It meets
all the safety, performance and convenience specifications. Its Cummins
engine is 370 hp.
"Due to a stronger U.S. dollar and general increases to
apparatus pricing, staff was unable to secure a bid within the
estimated budget," according to the report to council on Monday's
agenda. "Staff did however apply for and secure a $25,000 grant from
the Farm Credit Canada Corporation to partially offset the deficit..."
